Expanding SportsLink's Game Plan
Since OM's SportsLink was born 12 years ago sports ministries have taken off across the globe, impacting thousands. Now there's an exciting new development: a partnership with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), the largest Christian sports organisation in America. In 2007, FCA reached over 2 million athletes and coaches directly, running 240 camps with 42,000 campers in attendance and 8,000 Bible Study groups in schools and universities. 44,000 made first-time commitments to Christ. Now, says spokesman Dan Britton, it hopes to expand its ministries outside the U.S. by linking with OM.
"FCA considers itself to be an arm of the church, which fits into OM's core strategy. We want to minister to the heart of the athlete, tying Bible truth to Biblical coaching and competition. We also want to train people with a passion for sports ministry to transform communities."
OM SportsLink's David G. and Sandra J. are convinced this cooperation is a major step forward. "Reaching out to athletes, who are largely unreached, will be a new emphasis for us. God has given us so many opportunities! We want to do justice to them." |
