On FCA… "I actually grew up in FCA. My dad was a high school basketball coach, and he started an FCA Huddle in 1966 when I was 10 years old. When I got to junior high and high school, I participated in the Huddles myself and went to FCA Camp just about every summer."
On being the interim head coach at Arizona... "My time at Arizona has certainly caused me to draw closer to the Lord. Our fans expect us to win, and I don't want to let them or the players down. I spend much time in prayer, and I use my FCA Bible all the time for quality devotions."
On this season... "There is no question in my mind that God has been with us, and I think I've had real clarity of mind in everything we have done this year. I realize that this situation is bigger than wins and losses.
"As I keep that in mind, I find that there are days when I say, 'God, You always help me, but man, I really need it today.' And He always shows up and brings me peace. If I weren't a believer, this job would be really difficult."
