Fully Funded in East Asia: Training Event

An incredible scene unfolded this past December as 60 leaders and 10 instructors from 14 countries gathered for the largest FCA training event ever held in East Asia. The meeting—directed by Jin Kang (East Asia Global Region Coordinator) and hosted by Reon Tay (FCA Singapore Director)—included two tracks: coaches ministry and fundraising.

Dan Britton (Executive Director of International Ministry) and Mark Hull (International Coordinator for 3Dimensional Coaching) taught the coaches ministry track, which included topics such as 3Dimensional Coaching, starting a huddle and character coaching.

One attendee from the region was inspired to continue his work in his home nation where serving in the ministry can be dangerous and uniquely challenging.

“I need to do this,” he told event staff. “I need to do what FCA has been doing—to serve coaches and athletes.”

Micah May (South Central Arkansas Area Director) presented the track on fundraising, which was taught outside of the United States for the first time. Johnny*, a prospective FCA leader from Southeast Asia, shared one of many bold testimonies of faith.

“Now that we know what the Bible says and we are trained, it is only a formality to get fully funding,” he said.

The event in Singapore was also unique due to the fact that this region’s FCA National Directors were equipped and empowered to co-lead some of the training sessions alongside the lead presenters. Out of that momentum, FCA International has already scheduled another training session in the region for this coming December and will be adding camp ministry as a third instructional track.

“This event was a game changer for the global region of East Asia,” Mark Stephens (Mid-Atlantic Regional International Coordinator) adds. “Our leaders are now more equipped to minister to and through the coach. They are also ready to enjoy the freedom of being fully funded.”
