Who would have thought running a race could be so effortless?

On April 25, 327 female athletes participated in Race 1:14 in Oklahoma City. Held at Crossings Community Church, 12-18 year old girls gathered for dinner, fellowship, player testimonies, and worship, with an additional 35 college athletes serving as Huddle leaders.

“I see God moving in this event each and every year,” Sarah Roberts, Oklahoma FCA’s Director of Women’s Ministry, stated. “This night is about encouraging them with the truth of who God is, the truth of who God says they are, and the grace they could have with a relationship with Jesus.”

Based on John 1:14, young women discovered the glory of the Word becoming flesh and making His dwelling among them. Roberts tag lined the event: Race 1:14- Running the race of truth and grace. The night ended with 38 girls committing their lives to Christ.

Race 1:14 also included “girl talk” between the all-female audience. The focus of topics, Roberts noted, stemmed from 1 Timothy 4:12, “setting an example in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.”
