It’s always an exciting moment in sports—players circle up with hands stacked, united in a spirited, unrestrained “go team!” to ignite a rally. Or roaring, faithful fans cheer in unison to energize the athletes. The pivotal momentum of a rally is incredibly moving.
At FCA, we’ve begun a rally to “make disciples who make disciples.” The momentum is there. Together we’re engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same. In obedience to our Ultimate Coach, Jesus Christ, we follow His Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20:
“Jesus came and told His disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’”
Disciple-making isn’t always fast and quick, nor is it easy. To make disciples is to build relationships, to invest in one another’s lives. This is the model Jesus followed while He walked on earth, and it’s the model we follow today.
At FCA, more than 1,700 field staff invest in the lives of coaches and athletes every day, and our Support Center ensures thousands of resources are available for Huddles, Camps, outreach events and more all around the globe.
As we head into our 63rd year of FCA Camps, which you’ll read more about in this issue, we’re compelled to encourage coaches and athletes to shout out, “Let’s Go!” We want to rally and take Christ into courts, fields, arenas and courses. Why?
To fulfill the vision: to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. Thank you for joining us as a teammate in Christ.
