On Sept. 12020, during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, God gave Kimberly Johnson a vision to make disciples in and through equestrian sports with FCA in the greater Kansas City areaAfter nearly a year of praying for guidance, Johnson started the first FCA Equestrian Huddle in August 2021 at a farm in Paola, KanThe Huddle currently meets a short drive away at Cross Creek Saddle Club in Louisburg. Each month, families study God’s Word together, fellowship over a meal, and ride their horses.

These horse Huddles started with 12 kids and now have grown to almost 40 in the Kansas City area aloneSince 2021, other FCA Equestrian Huddles have started in Georgia, Maine and other parts of the country

The Kansas City chapter has expanded to include a summer camp, a competitive drill team and a horse-riding academy. The first camp in 2022 had 12 riders and one clinician, while the 2023 camp doubled to 24 riders and two cliniciansThis year also marks the second season of drill team with 11 riders, a head coach and an assistant coach who leads the Huddle time at every practice. The goal is to empower the riders to share the message of Jesus at various equestrian events throughout the Kansas City areaAny riders who aren’t ready for the drill team can still participate in the academy’s ongoing discipleship and instruction.

Utilizing the E3 strategy and curriculum for Huddles, teams and camps, FCA Equestrian in Kansas City is seeing lifechanging impact and multiplication among its coaches and athletesOne rider decided to place her trust in Jesus after hearing the testimonies of her teammates. Another rider committed to seek the Lord and attend church after leaving a Huddlean answer to her mother’s longtime prayers.

God is working in and through FCA Equestrian to make disciples who multiply in a whole new environment of coaches and athletes,” Johnson said.
