On March 29th we had the first lacrosse tournament in Ukraine, and FCA was blessed to be very active in making this event occur. Three teams took part in the tournament: the “Lions” from Rivne, the “Wolves” from Vinnytsia and ‘Bulava” from Kyiv. They played with only seven players on the field, because some teams didn't have all ten. The first game was between the “Wolves” and “Bulava." Due to an injury the "Wolves" played with only 6 players and lost 5:4.
In the second game the “Lions” beat “Bulava” 3:2. The "Lions" also beat the “Wolves” in the third game, 7:3. So, the FCA team from Rivne, the “Lions” took first place, “Bulava” took second and the "Wolves” were third.
The director of FCA Lacrosse Ministry and the captain of the “Lions”, Vova Demediuk, shared that this tournament was an example of God’s action in our lives.
“It was the first time when I also tried to be a referee. It was very exciting. Our team could openly share the love of Christ and this tournament was a real breakthrough in Ukrainian lacrosse as a whole. Some teams were lacking in equipment, but thanks to Dan Britton and the whole FCA Lacrosse team, we could share our gloves, helmets and sticks with them. It was a historical moment for lacrosse in Ukraine. We gained a huge experience and God has blessed our team with victory!"
"In regards to the future of FCA Ukraine Lacrosse, I will be playing in a few games for a Polish team in Poland. We are also preparing for a big event – The International Lacrosse Tournament between Ukraine and Poland on June 14-15 in Rivne, Ukraine. Please pray for further development of Ukrainian lacrosse and the opportunity to serve through it.”
