Thousands of coaches and athletes are participating at an FCA Camp around the country and world this summer. Here are a few reflections from the hearts and minds of faces seen around camp.
Name: Miriam
School: La Mirada High School
Sport: Track/CC
Year: Junior
Camp Experience: 2 years
FCA: Why are you here?
Miriam: I liked what they had going on here with the intensity of workouts, and wanted to focus on God and close relationships. It’s amazing how well sports and God are integrated here.
FCA: What are you learning?
Miriam: How to have humility in your sport. And how humility is not thinking less of yourself, just thinking of yourself less.
FCA: Favorite camp moment?
Miriam: The coaches are great—they’re pouring into us and our workouts. But my favorite is probably the program because you have hundreds of kids around you worshipping at the same time.

Valary and Kelsey
Campers
Name: Valary
School: James A. Foshay Learning Center
Sport: Softball (utility)
Year: Junior
Camp Experience: 1 year
FCA: How did you hear about camp?
Valary: My friend Nadine came last year. She told me about it and I wanted to experience God at all times in my sport.
FCA: What’s been the biggest takeaway moment you’ve had?
Valary: Teamwork. And to always stay positive. They call me Grumpy on the field because I’m so serious. I want to win. But winning isn’t everything; it’s working with your teammates. Camp’s taught me to have fun.
FCA: What do you want to share with friends and family about your camp experience?
Valary: What a really neat experience this is to have. I’ve never had this experiences of being in a dorm and be at UCLA and play on the field with professionals in their sport.

Kelsey: How to be more humble on my team and with teammates at school, and to not be afraid to show who I am and show my religion on the field.
