Need an idea of where to begin?
Below are the Top 5 FCA YouVersion reading plans:
1. FCA Road to Gold
FCA’s 5-day reading plan highlighting devotions from Olympic hopefuls and champions in tune with the Olympics. The plan includes extra scripture readings and suggested prayers.
Sample Question:
Do you truly believe that God has a plan for your life? How might embracing His plan help you deal with life’s challenges.
2. Bold and Beautiful
A 10-day reading plan written specifically for female athletes to help them understand who God created them to be as strong, godly women competitors. The plan includes memory verses and reflection questions.
Sample Excerpt:
Have you ever considered what you wouldn’t be able to do if you weren’t your specific height or shape? God has. Ephesians 2:10 says that you are God’s masterpiece, created specifically so you can do the good things he planned for you long ago. That can most definitely include sports!
No, you may never look like the girls on the runway. But they aren’t you, and they don’t have your purpose, just like you don’t have theirs. God knows how and why He made you, and it’s a good plan (Jeremiah 29:11). Trust Him and let Him show you the beauty you are by reading His Word—the Truth about who you are to Him.
3. FCA Endurance: Why Do You Race?
This study pushes the endurance athlete to look at their motivation to compete and examine how to live as a Christian athlete.
Sample Devotional:
Luke 19:11-27
Racing Results
Have you ever considered how expensive endurance sports can be? There are the obvious financial costs: equipment, gym fees, race registrations, travel costs, and others. But what about your time? How much time have you spent on training, racing, and traveling? What is that worth? Who else is paying that price... your spouse, kids, neighbors, church family, employer, etc.? What about your mental and emotional energy? How much focus, energy, and thought goes into endurance sports, even when you’re not training or racing? If you add this all up, I believe you’ll agree with a simple conclusion… endurance sports are expensive!
Here’s a more important question though. Based on what we read yesterday, is your investment in endurance sports accomplishing your purpose, or is it doing something else?
4. Heart of an Athlete
Heart of an Athlete contains seven short devotions for athletes at any level, offering memorable, biblical insights for handling challenges and playing with God’s purposes in mind. Written from a competitor’s point of view, they will motivate you to dig deeper into the Bible and commit to regular spiritual training for life on and off the field. This devotional is also challenging and encouraging for coaches who work with athletes of any sport.
Luke 12:20-21
Sample Questions
1. What are some of your athletic goals? How much importance do you place on winning?
2. How can you apply the parable of Luke 12:13-21 to your athletic dreams?
5. Heart of a Competitor
As athletes and coaches in any sport, in Heart of a Competitor, seven inspiring devotions will prepare your heart to be successful in and out of competition.
The Lord will work out his plans for my life—
for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.
Don’t abandon me, for you made me. -Psalm 138:8
Sample Excerpt:
What’s Your Purpose?
Just like David says in Psalm 138, I know the Lord has a purpose for me, and He will fulfill it. I’ve tried over the years to grow in the understanding of my purpose. As a Christian competitor, I try to use every opportunity I can to share the gospel of Christ along with the struggles I’ve face and lessons God has taught me along the way. I have realized that my purpose goes far beyond just playing the game of baseball. God has purposed this sport as my mission field.
