HOCoach - William MayfieldQ. How has FCA helped you to know Christ?

FCA has changed my family’s lives by helping us put our faith to work for the Lord. After attending one of the FCA Family Camps, we started praying every morning and talking about our faith as a family. We are more fired up than ever before.

Q. How has FCA helped you to engage others to know and grow in Christ?

From devotionals before basketball games to fellowship with individuals, my main focus is engaging students no matter where they are in their faith. Crawford FCA helps me reach students who may not be on the right track as well as students deep in their faith. My family hosts an FCA Huddle at our house once a month that averages 40 kids. We feed them and pour into them; it is a special time for my family, the students and me. We teach how to know Christ and show them how to stay faithful in day-today life.

Q. How does your relationship with Christ impact the way you coach?

Coaching is a calling, and I use my role as a coach to serve God and spiritually impact others. I want to show and model what God has done in my life and help inspire faith in the hearts of my athletes. As my relationship with Christ grows, so does my coaching style.

Q. How has FCA helped you grow in Christ?

FCA helped me understand I don’t need to know it all or hold a doctorate in Christianity to bring people to Christ. It keeps me faithful and mindful of the struggles young kids go through on a daily basis.

Q. What do you hope your legacy will be on and off the field?

I hope anyone who knows me will remember me as a faithful servant. Not just a Christian coach, father, husband and teacher, but a great Christian man.
