SydneyQ. How has FCA helped you to engage others to know and grow in Christ?

FCA taught me how to be a role model for other student-athletes. Even though I have always considered myself a Christian, I haven’t always felt comfortable sharing my beliefs openly with others. I have become more confident in sharing my love of Christ with my peers, something I would have been afraid to do before. I enjoy being a sounding board for other students who look up to me.

Q. Do you use any FCA resources? If so, which ones?

I have used the FCA Student Bible to create and share lessons with other students. I have also used the Competitor’s Bible for daily devotionals. When I first became involved with FCA, we watched the Tim Tebow video series. It was exciting to see how FCA helped Tim become a better athlete. His story encourages me to keep Christ in the forefront of what I bring with me on the field.

Q. What is God teaching you right now?

I am learning to accept others and myself, and that God loves me no matter what. I am learning I can do anything through Him. This year, my senior soccer teammates and I decided to write a meaningful word on our arms. My teammates chose words like strength and dedication. I chose “Philippians 4:11” because I want to be content in any circumstance. Without Christ, it is easy to feel like I’m not good enough, but He teaches me I am, and to encourage others.

Q. How has FCA helped you to grow in Christ?

FCA Camp is the most impactful thing I have been involved in through FCA. It was amazing to be surrounded by so many athletes from all over who also love Christ. I can’t even really describe the energy I felt by being there. It helped me to know how to have a relationship with Christ on and off the field. I’m used to keeping my church life separate from my school life, and I learned how to meld the two.
