A coach’s team is like a family, with almost as much time spent at practices and games than at home.

But at Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Coaches Camps each summer, dedicated team leaders can put the focus solely back on their families during a special time together. And better yet, the entire family can be refreshed and rejuvenated, all while glorifying God and growing in their faith.

Coaches Camps are just one type of FCA Camps happening across the country and around the world this summer. Events are designed specifically for coaches, their spouses and their families.

“Coaches work extremely hard all throughout the year—during competition, preparing for play and in building up their teams physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually,” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “That’s why each summer, FCA is honored to focus on coaches for a time of ‘inspiration and perspiration,’ when they can truly be renewed. And the best part is that FCA Coaches Camps are a family affair. The life of a coach can be demanding, but when a coaching family slows down, enjoys each other’s company, strengthens their relationships and grows in their walk with Christ at an FCA Camp, it is transformational.”

Coaches Camps challenge coaches in their faith and family life, and allow them to be spiritually, relationally and professionally refreshed. Coaches Camps are for both single and married coaches and their families; they are designed to minister, equip and encourage. Special times can be set aside for husbands and wives as well. FCA Camps minister to coaches through Bible studies, small groups, fellowship, prayer support, discipleship and mentoring.

Many coaching families plan their summer vacations around FCA Camps, and an added benefit is that coaches and their spouses can interact with others who are in similar life stages and have parallel experiences and challenges. Another regular occurrence at Coaches Camps is that attendees realize they are not alone—that other coaching families have the same struggles they do. Guest speakers address various issues, such as marriage, parenting, finances and faith.

Throughout the country at hundreds of Camps, coaches return refreshed to their families, teams and communities through FCA Camps, as evidenced by feedback year after year:
“I praise God for the opportunity to partner with FCA in fulfilling the Lord’s work to make an eternal investment in the lives of young student athletes.”

For 2019, FCA is focusing on the Camps theme of “Let’s Go.” Meant to be said with emphasis, “Let’s Go” is not only the rally cry for many athletes, coaches and teams, but it also should be the goal of Christians when they consider Christ’s call to the Great Commission.

Last summer, more than 88,000 campers participated in 771 FCA Camps in 43 states and 50 countries. FCA takes the best attributes of an athletic-focused camp and a spiritual-focused camp and combines them into an athletic/spiritual experience like none other. FCA Camps remove athletes and coaches from the routine of their sport, friends, co-workers and community, and place them into an exciting, healthy, athletic environment that allows them to pursue their passion for sport and clearly see and hear Christ’s passion for them.

Besides Coaches Camps, other types of FCA Camps include: Sports Camps, Team Camps, Power Camps, Leadership Camps and Partnership Camps. To find Camps in specific areas or to inquire about volunteering at or attending an FCA Camp, visit www.fcacamps.org.
