Terrence 3 (2)Q: How does FCA help you to know and grow in Christ?

FCA surrounds me with people who either already know Jesus Christ or who desire to know Him. One example is FCA Camp. I’ve attended the last several years, and Camp keeps my fire alive. The FCA Camp Bible I receive each year gives me deeper revelations of Jesus Christ, especially with the life topics and short devotions found all throughout it. FCA brings stability when everything on campus feels out of place. Sharing my life experiences and problems with other Christians during Huddles and FCA events sharpens me. I’ve grown from milk to solid food (1 Corinthians 3:2). I understand my soul is anchored in Christ and not my athletic ability.

Q: What is God teaching you right now?

Serve Him with gladness. I’m learning the importance of serving—not that I didn’t know it before, but God is taking me to higher levels of spiritual maturity through serving. Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,” (Matthew 20:26). I am a leader because I serve, and I go out of my way to help others and be a blessing. Serving is the best way to live like Jesus because that is exactly what He did.

Q: How do you engage others to know and grow in Christ?

FCA gear! Plenty of times, someone has asked, “Hey, that’s a nice shirt—what does FCA stand for?” Through these different interactions, I’ve shared my faith and explained FCA’s impact on me. Then I potentially invite that person to an FCA event. I carry my FCA backpack all the time, and it too makes people want to know what exactly FCA is about. Also, the FCA Bible includes The FOUR, which helps a believer explain the Gospel to somebody in simple steps, and FCA provides other online resources I use to lead Huddles and share my faith.

Q: What legacy do you hope to leave as an athlete?

I want to be known as a man who desires to please the Lord in everything. I hope others will see I am willing to live humbly before God so He can use me for great works. My smile, my laugh, my work ethic, my speaking abilities, and everything I do—when I move on, I hope it gives glory to God. I am His servant, Terrence Demps II. I hope that what was accomplished through me in FCA will be talked about in Heaven.
