FCA 101: International

FCA

FCA International began with five camps and 760 competitors in 2007. Today, FCA is a global ministry serving in 105 countries in addition to the U.S. As a team, we are pursuing Christ all over the world. We are learning, maturing and growing in our understanding of how to provide training, resources and programs that reach every coach and athlete in every country we serve.

The world is a big place. How practically does FCA ministry in so many areas?

We’ve created a structure of leadership by organizing the ministry into four international divisions and 14 regions. Each division and region is equipped to develop ministry programs and leaders within the region.

Does FCA minister in countries where the church is restricted?

DSC04779Yes, we minister in countries facing cultural, social and legal restrictions. However, we are seeing incredible ministry take place in these countries and learning new ways to do ministry.

What are international partnerships, and how do they work?

In many countries around the world, there are often leaders who have already been ministering to coaches and athletes for decades and groups who are carrying out sports ministry. FCA’s goal isn’t to plant FCA in each country, but rather to build relationships with those who share the same vision and mission. International leaders know what God is doing in their communities and can best establish lasting ministry. When a potential partnership is identified, we both come to the table to compare strengths and opportunities. We then look at how to best serve together. This often involves contextualizing resources and offering training and tools to strengthen ministry capacity.

Why has FCA International grown so quickly?

As international leaders are equipped with tools and resources to serve in full-time ministry, they’re not only empowered to reach others, but also to expand the vision. In many cases, a leader’s vision has expanded as they’ve gone from wanting to reach coaches and athletes in the local community to reaching coaches and athletes all over the country.

Volunteer SharingDo you offer Bibles in other languages?

In 2006, FCA printed its first Spanish New Testament, and since then multiple resources have been developed and printed. From Bibles to sports devotionals and online YouVersion reading plans, we are resourcing coaches and athletes around the world with materials in many languages: Arabic, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Korean, Urdu, French, Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Japanese and Portuguese.

Do camps and Huddles happen around the world?

Yes! Camps and Huddles are very effective ministry programs around the world. FCA values bringing coaches and athletes in an event setting to connect them to long-term relationships. In 2021, we hosted 240 international camps with 14,559 in attendance and 1,678 Huddles and witnessed 2,230 faith decisions.
